REVIEWS Colorful, humorous decor that instantly transports you to the Southwest, large portions for a good price, delicious! Friendly owner and food servers, who pay attention to cleanliness and sanitation requirements. My server even tossed in change to cover 15 cents left on my bill when I was digging into my pocket to find change. One burrito is plenty big enough for two. I’d go back in a heartbeat! — Joanna Loucky-Ramsey, Innkeeper, Hidden Meadow Inn, Norfolk, NY

I’ve eaten at both Hot Tamale and Spicy Iguana in the last two weeks. Both have colorful decor. Hot Tamale has a humorous bent to its choice of decorations. A patron eating at an outside table at Spicy Iguana said he prefers it to HT because it is more authentic in his opinion (he is from the Dominican Republic) and the owner of SI is from Ecuador. I don’t know if that is true, never having been to Ecuador, but it may be so. Comparing the two meals, even though they were not the same dishes, my initial reaction was that HT provides a LOT of tasty food at a VERY reasonable price. At SI I specifically asked that my dish be prepared without cilantro, but the chef “forgot” and the waiter said he apologized, he had to “scrape” it off. I would go back to both restaurants again, but have to say that HT won the first round for me.
