The Alaska Room

Thinking about a trip to Alaska? Ask about our cabin in the woods outside Fairbanks …

A favorite of children who love the moose puppets and the bears on the beds, the spacious Alaska Room features a Queen-sized Tempur-Pedic® bed with room for extra twin beds for a family on a budget.  Up to four people may stay in this room.

Guests who stay in the Alaska and Asia Rooms may use either full guest bathroom, the second floor Hall Bath with tub and shower next door, or first floor Bath with shower, located behind the kitchen.

Windows facing east overlook birdfeeders, gardens and the pool.

Guests of all ages who stay in this room enjoy colorful native Alaskan Art, stunning nature photography, Alaska-opoly board game and Alaskan-themed books about the aurora borealis, dog-sledding, and wildlife in the 49th State.   We have even seen the northern lights from our own front porch right here in Norfolk!

For the adventurous, you can experience a taste of Alaska only 27 miles or a 45 minute drive from our inn when you visit the Call of the Wild Kennel operated by Iditarod-veteran Spencer Thew, where you can ride a dog sled or cart pulled by Siberian huskies and see a genuine Alaskan-style dog yard.

We’d love to share some of the joys and challenges of life in “Extreme Alaska” with you.

Here’s a photo of Bill hauling sod he cut for the roof of our cabin just north of Fairbanks in 1995 with “help” from our first keeshond-shepherd-husky mix puppy Yoda.

Don’t you know keeshonden aren’t in the “Working Group”?
